silver bullet

daddy & his friends (team xtreme) have their big race tomorrow, the... "hell run". we're so proud of daddy & can't wait to watch him cross the finish line. we decided to make him rally shirts so everyone would know how awesome he is!!!  so livi, mommy & i all have green (daddy's favorite color) shirts that we silk screened ourselves, we even made the templates.  on the front it says "the silver bullet" (that's daddy's name he was assigned for the race) & on the back they say "go daddy" or "go babe" (for mommy) & it's in my handwriting, i made the stencil!  we had so much fun & they look so awesome! i can't wait to wear them tomorrow & cheer on my daddy... whoo hoo. GO SILVER BULLET, TEAM XTREME ALL THE WAY!!!

bubba the cowboy prince

i recently checked out " bubba the cowboy prince- a fractured texas tale" from my library at school & i'm so glad i did... it was darn tootin', rip roarin' cowboy fun time for the whole family! the book is about "bubba who lives on a ranch with an unscrupulous family of desperados. their idea of fun is tippin' cows and robbin' banks. when miz lurleen, the richest gal east of the brazos, throws a hoe down everyone is invited except bubba. after an encounter with a fairy god-cow, bubba is transformed for one night into a sod bustin', cowboy prince and wins miz lurleen's heart." it's like cinderella but with a texas twist & you have to have someone read it to you in a southern drawl. mommy had to read it twice in one night because i was laughing so hard at her voices, i didn't hear the story. i think we're going to have to go buy it, because livi is always asking to read bubba & i wanna hear it to. so if you haven't read i highly suggest you do, it's a grrrreat book!!!

my 1st love note

me & aj at his birthday party
today my friend aj gave me a note & boy was I surprised when I read it. he pretty much told me he loves me & wants to marry me.  he even drew his house & wrote down his phone number, i guess so i'll know he's serious. aj is one of my bff (best friend forever) so I really didn't expect this from him. aj is very nice, polite, smart, sweet & cute, but this is awkward. so I just told him "thank you", I'm still in a little bit of shock... so is mommy & daddy that's for sure!!! I guess we'll just see what happens tomorrow, because i don't know what to do... this is my 1st love note!

5 things a day

every morning on the way to school, mommy always asks me what are you going to do today & i always tell her...
1. i'm going to be good & do good
2. stay on green (that doesn't always happen)
3. hug mrs. handy good morning
4. help a friend
5. learn something new so i can come home & teach it to you
to me these are 5 very important things that i try my hardest to do everyday! what are your 5 things you try to do everyday?

10 tips to reduce global warming

since it is earth week, i thought i would pass on 10 itty bitty tips we can all do that will help stop global warming. we should all work together to make a difference in our world, we all have an impact on earth...lets make it a positive one.

replace a regular incandescent light bulb with a compact fluorescent light bulb: (cfl) you can find them out at 1000bulbs.com. three CFBs will save 300 pounds of carbon dioxide!
bring cloth/canvas bags to the market: when the check-out person asks, "paper or plastic?," say, "neither." using your own cloth bag reduces waste and requires no additional energy.
reduce waste: take your lunch in a reusable lunch box instead of a disposable one
plant a tree: trees suck up CO2 and create clean air for us to breathe. a single tree will absorb a ton (that's 2000+ lbs.) of CO2 over its lifetime.
conserve water: do only full loads of laundry and don't let the water run when you brush your teeth or shave. an open faucet pours 5 gallons of water every 2 minutes.

use refillable bottles for water: bottled water is a huge culprit to having a clean environment. stop buying all of those water bottles that fill up our land-fills. if you need special water, buy a water filter.

buy organic foods as much as possible: the chemicals used in modern agriculture aren't just bad for your body, they also pollute the water supply and are mostly made of petroleum.
walk or ride your bike to work, school and anywhere you can: you'll save one pound of CO2 for every mile you don't drive!
be sure you're recycling at home: you can save 2,400 pounds of carbon dioxide a year by recycling half of the waste your household generates.

spread the word: tell everyone all the things above. tell your friends, family, relatives, coworkers, and more. post it on forums, message boards, and blogs. if even ten out of a hundred listen to you, and one of that ten actually does something, it makes a difference!

here's some awesome websites to check out for more ideas how you can help save our earth...

my special teeth

about 9 months ago when i was visiting my dentist for my cleaning it was time to take x-rays, well when dr.yu was looking at them he saw an extra front tooth... a special tooth.  we decided we would watch & see what it looked like in 6 months. well at my next cleaning we took more x-rays & even a panorex & guess what he found another special (extra) tooth, so i have 4 front big girl teeth. a panorex are kind of scary, dr.yu had to hold on to me since i'm so little, but they're also really cool because you get to see all of your teeth, i mean all of them.  he decided that was way to big of a job for him so he sent me to see dr. eklund an oral surgeon. we met with dr. eklund & he couldn't believe what he was seeing also & he thought there might even be a third tooth hiding in there, that would be a total of 5 front teeth. so he said no guessing on this little girl, we're going to do a cat scan! so i had a cone beam 3-d dental image done, boy was that a crazy adventure. i had to bite onto this special plastic plate that formed into my teeth & then i had to sit in this crazy machine. i wasn't as scared because i had already been in something that was kind of like it. when all was said & done, dr. eklund came in to tell me i only had 2 not 3 extra front teeth... thank goodness!!! one of my special teeth is already trying to come out backwards (it looks funny & i don't like it) & i call it my shark tooth because it's so sharp  & the other one is growing the wrong way into my sinuses. so the first week that i'm out of school i'll be having oral surgery to have 1 baby tooth removed (it can't come out because there isn't anything pushing it out) & my 2 special teeth, that way i won't miss any school recovering from my procedure. they're going to have to shave some of the bone in my mouth too because my teeth are stuck under it they also call it impacted. at first i was really scared but dr. eklund walked me through the whole surgery & i feel better. i'll have to get an iv ( i wasn't happy about that) but he sprayed this really cold spray on my hand that froze my skin & then he pinched me & i couldn't even feel it so i won't feel the needle either. i'll be asleep through the whole thing so i won't be in any pain & when i wake up i'll have 3 less teeth. dr. ecklund told me that the tooth fairy will be working extra hard on the night of my surgery carrying all the money that will be for me because any little girl having to go through this deserves lots of coins... i agree!!! but i have to say i'm so happy to have such great dental doctors that know what i need, so if anyone needs a great dentist you have to go to dr. yu http://www.thesugarlanddentist.com/ & if anyone needs an oral surgeon i highly sugggest dr. eklund http://www.sworalandimplant.com/. well wish me luck & if you have time you can write the tooth fairy a letter on my behalf letting her know how brave i am & don't worry i'll keep you posted on how it goes!

scribbles

i want to tell you about "scribbles", it's a really giant drawing and coloring book by taro gomi. this book has over 360 pages to color & draw, there is puzzles, games & cut-out crafts. the book is designed to spur creative thinking & it is perfect for doodlers 3 to 99. as they say this is no ordinary coloring book! i've had this book for almost 3 yrs & i still love opening it to a new page to see what i'll find & explore. it's also the best thing ever for road trips because this book isn't just for coloring, but doodling, drawing, imagining & thinking so the time flys & the next thing you know you are there!

cookies and goodnight

300+ cookies

so the other night i told you how a lot of us were making 300 cookies well the reason we did that was because last night i went to the Star of Hope Mission & served with their Cookies & Goodnight program. i've been wanting to serve with them for a long time & tonight was my night, i was so excited i brought some friends of mine with me from church... allison, joni & candance thank you so much for coming with me, i'm so glad you were there with me! remember the last time you had one of those late night cravings and raided the kitchen for cookies & milk? well tonight was my turn to do that for women & children without homes & it was such a wonderful opportunity. we were able to provide a special treat for the families at the Star of Hope's Transitional Living Center before they went to bed. the "Star of Hope Mission's Transitional Living Center goes beyond emergency care by providing long-term solutions of structure, accountability and the opportunity to learn basic living skills in a comprehensive and demanding one-year program." we were asked to provide & serve 1-2 cookies per person with napkins that's why we were baking so many cookies. for a added bonus we surprised everyone with ice cold milk also, boy did that go fast! the families only had 30 mins to eat as many cookies as they could & i'm happy to say we only had 5 cookies left, so i know everyone had full & happy tummys.  i've been really wanting to help children without homes & tonight seeing how thankful they were just from having a few cookies & milk... that was really hard but it made me soooooooooo happy. i really loved passing out the cookies to all the children especially the lil bitty ones. the toughest part was seeing how dirty the children were & wanting to help them more than we did. all the children were so sweet & loving you would never know that they were not in the best of situations. what was hardest part that made me really sad was meeting a lady who was pregnant & finding out that after she had her baby they would be coming back to live there, i really had a rough time with that. i really loved helping them & i want to be able to do this again, it's a lot of hard
work but it is so worth it! i want to send a HUGE thank you to allison, cadance, dana, dawn, denise, joni, katie, lindsey, momo, monica, mrs. handy, tia liz, veronica & my mommy & daddy for making this happen for me. without all of your amazing support  & blessings i wouldn't have been able to experience this & it means the world to me that i did. we weren't able to take any pictures of the families so i just have a few pictures of how the night went, so you can get an idea of what we did. if you would like to learn more about Star of Hope & all the amazing programs they offer, please visit them at sohmission.org. i know you've heard me say it before  & i'll keep saying it but there are so many people less fortunate than us, so if you can please take the time to reach out in your community, no matter how big or small you give IT WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!!
To this very hour we go hungry and thirsty, we are in rags, we are brutally treated, we are homeless.

easy peasy cookies

right now mommy, our friends & i are making 300 cookies for a very special cause that's close to my heart... i'll tell you more about that in a few days. since we're making so many cookies & i thought that this would be the perfect time to break out one of my favorite recipes. this is a recipe from one of my mommy's friends that she had to share with us & i'm so happy she did, because they are the best cookies i have ever eaten!!! i mean they're so easy to make, i did it all by myself, well mommy helped me a lil with the mixing. all you have to do is put all the ingredients in a big bowl, mix them together, play patty-a-cake with the dough, put them on the cookie sheet & then in the oven. then presto you have AMAZING cookies.  this time we used funfetti cake mix, strawberry cake mix & lemon (our all time favorite) cake mix, we love to mix it up with different types of cake mix. here's the recipe, so you can make them too...

1 box cake mix (any flavor)
1/2 cup oil
2 eggs
bake at 350 for about 10 mins or they will start to turn slightly brown and then you will know they are done! enjoy ^_^

how does your flower grow

every spring we love to plant new flowers in all different colors. this year we picked purple, pink & orange & each color is a different type of flower. this is livi's "real" 1st time getting the whole planting thing down, she had a rocky start, but by the end end of it she knew what she was doing. we layed out our soil, placed all of our flowers, dug the holes, then it was time to hand mommy the flower & we planted it together. well when it was livi's turn one second the flower was in her hand the next it was gone, the only difference was that mommy's face was covered in dirt. it took all of us a minute to realize that..
a) livi threw the flower (the whole handing it to mommy went over her head).
b) the flower was hanging from mommy's glasses.
c) it was ok to fall down laughing because mommy already had.
the 2nd time around livi had a better understanding... thank goodness. every evening livi & i water our flowers (well livi waters her feet & a lil bit of dirt... she's working on it) & tell them how pretty they are. we can't wait to see all the flowers in bloom & we're hoping they'll bring a few butterflies to visit us.
