crawfish season

it's finally crawfish season & daddy couldn't be happier!!! he finally convinced us girls to try it & honestly it's not too bad. it's safe to say we'll be eating it again.

livi's arctic diorama

it's finally livi's turn to do a diorama at school!!! they've been studying all about different types of habitats in science at school & they have had a week to create their own in a shoebox for a homework project. so for their habitat scene we got to choose from a desert, an ocean, a forest, a pond, the arctic tundra or the rain forest. livi choose to do the arctic because she loves polar bears. the major thing for their diorama was for them to be creative, anything they could find will work & make every detail count! she had so much fun figuring out what she wanted to put in her arctic & how to arrange everything. when she did her presentation on my habitat i had to give 3 facts about polar bears, but she did so much research she gave her class 6 facts. i loved getting to tell my friends all about the arctic like: polar bear males can grow 10 feet tall & weigh over 1400 pounds, in the wild they can live up to 25 years, that their fur is oily & water repellant, then under their fur, their skin is actually is black- the black skin soaks up the sun's heat & helps keep them warm, they also have a special liver that helps them process all the seal fat they eat.  livi loved seeing & hearing her friends presentations & learning all about their habitats too. today she got my grade back & she got a 100% A+... whoo hoo!!!

longhorn of the week

Mommy & daddy are so so so proud of me. Every week at my school 10 students out of over 650 get chosen to be Longhorn of the week due to whatever subject is being honored. This is my 2nd time to be picked. I was picked for social studies back in December & this week its for reading.

daddy a special message just for you

if there was an official award in the category for 'the best daddy daddy in the world', you'd win it every single day of your life. thank you for always being there for us and supporting us. your the best daddy daddy ever! have a happy happy birthday daddy daddy & may your day be filled with all things that make you smile! we love you sooooooooooooooo much!

We literally live on the best street ever.  Some of the neighbors kidlets helped Livi & I decorate our whole driveway with birthday messages celebrating daddy! It's so beautiful! 

the chainsmokers

what was once mommy & daddy's annual rodeo date night has now become our family annual rodeo date. for the 2nd year in a row we all went to the rodeo as a family... whoo hoo. going to the world's largest indoor rodeo is pretty special... yee haw! there was calf roping (which livi did not like at all. every time the cowboy missed the calf she would yell with joy & scream for the calf to run faster), barrel racing, buckin' broncos, bull riding & of course cotton candy!!!

there was also wagon races which we went hoarse from cheering them on!

we loved watching the calf scramble & laughed till we cried. there were about 30 high school future farmer of america students trying to catch a calf to keep & raise to show at the rodeo next year. there were only about 15 calfs & they were bound & determined not to be caught. these students would try to drag the in my their tails or hoofs. the kids would team up & try to push them across the line & these were some very VERY stubborn calfs. 

our favorite is the mutton butting which is like bull rising except it little kids riding sheep. it's the cutest thing you've seen!

finally it was time for the chainsmokers to come out & perform. we were the largest crowd of rodeo houston 2017, everyone was super excite to them perform. this is the 1st time in rodeo history where they had a band like the chainsmokers perform & no one was sure how it was going to work or what was going to happen. we have to say they did a really good job & there light show was unlike anything we've ever seen.

needless to say livi & i had a grrrrrrreat time & can't wait for mommy & daddy to take us again next year. it'll be our annual family date night now!

birthday book club

every year at dickinson if you pay $15 dollars you can be a part of the birthday book club. that money goes to buying a brand new book for the library with a sticker that tells everyone you provided it. you also get to pick the book you want donated & you get to bring it home for a whole month before anyone else gets to check it out. you also get a bookmark that smells like birthday cake. livi really wanted to be a part of it this year & here's her book... yay! so for the whole month of march she feels super special for having a brand new, never been read book.

rainy saturday

today was a super rainy saturday so mommy & daddy let us each pick something we really wanted to do to pass the day. i wanted to go to sky zone to jump on the trampolines so off we went!

then we went to the mall to have the best & our favorite chicken teriyaki for lunch.

then it was my turn to walk around the mall & go to all my favorite stores & spend some of my christmas money!

Nerd dance

Tonight was our spring dance & the theme this was... NERD!!! This time I talked one of my besties (Steph) to go with me. She's not that into dances but really wanted to experience a middle school dance & i knew we'd have fun together. On top of that mommy was a chaperone... whoo hoo... that was sarcasm. They encouraged all the parent that were going to be there to nerd out... mommy was the only one, of course mommy being mommy she rocked it. Just like the 1st dance there was dance offs, snacks, pictures, hanging out with friends & lots of laughter... don't worry there still wasn't any slow songs so there was no boy-girl dancing! All in all it was still fun, but I'm not sure if I'll go to the 7th grade dances, but we'll see.

After the dance mommy took us out for snow cones for an extra treat since they ran out at the dance.

storybook character day

read across america is an annual reading motivation & awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on march 2nd, the birthday of beloved children's author dr. seuss. this year livi's school hosted a school wide storybook character day on friday, march 3rd. all of the students & staff were encouraged to dress up as their favorite story book characters. they were allowed to choose any character from any book they enjoy.

this year Livi is no longer Livi she is... Captain Awesome! Imaginative second grader Eugene McGillicudy loves comic books and superheroes so much that he invents his very own superhero alter ego named…CAPTAIN AWESOME! MI-TEE! Along with best friend Charlie Thomas Jones (aka Nacho Cheese Man) and sidekick Turbo the hamster, Captain Awesome and his superpowered squad protect the town of Sunnyview--as well as the universe--from a comical crowd of “bad guys” like Queen Stinkypants, Dr. Spinach, Mr. Drools and Baron and Baroness von Booger.

the best part was seeing all out teachers dressed up in costumes... they were so awesome!!!

 they also held a school wide parade so everyone could see what everyone dressed up as.
