did you know there are tons of things to do with hula hoops, tonight we pretended we were a circus act... the daring lopezi! you see daddy would toss the hula hoop with a backward spin so when it hit the ground it would come back like a boomer rang.  so daddy would toss the hula hoop we would try to jump through the hoop on its way back to him. it was pretty entertaining trying to get our timing down, we were all over the place, running into each other & the hula hoop. daddy was amazing at getting through the hoop, he should definitely be a professional diver... who knew he had so many talents! we were having so much fun we didn't come in till the sun went down.

curesearch walk reschedule​d for march 3rd

whoo hoo, the houston curesearch for children's cancer walk is back on &it's going to be next saturday, march 3rd at the quillian center @ 9:00.  there will be music, family friendly activities and refreshments... i'm so excited! i can't believe team everyday matters has raised $2.092.50, it makes me so happy knowing that we're helping cure cancer in children! it's not to late if you would like to donate, i know we raised way more than our goal but I say the sky's the limit especially with a cause that needs as much help as we can give!  please click here to donate or learn more about curesearch & thank you so much for all your love & support!

1st grade field trip

 today was the 1st grade class field trip to the children's museum...whoo hoo!!! i got to ride a school bus for the 2nd time in my life & it was just as exciting as the first time except they still don't have seat belts (i need to do something about that) don't worry i promise i behaved! before we went to the museum we stopped off at hermann park for some great play time & lunch. when we got to the children's museum we split off with our buddies & chaperon, my buddy was my friend ivoni (just like last year) & her mom was our chaperon for our adventurous day. we had so much fun exploring all the exhibits. of course i had to say "hi" to the phone robot, i think he's the coolest! we got to go see "kidtropolis" which is a city where kids choose to be whatever they want to be! we get to participate in a simulated economy where we can spend money on items and experiences throughout the city. but, like in real life, we will have to get jobs to earn money. we also visited "power play" which is a three-story installation lets you leap up and down different levels as you discover new ways to get active. my favorite though was the "flow works" it's an interactive exhibit, which requires kids to “dip” their hands into it to make it work!  there's an 18 foot tall cauldron that stands in the middle of it all! The more you play, the more it gets filled up with water.  once it’s full, water comes crashing down, making an unstoppable wave of fun & we loved getting soaked!

 i love going to the children's museum, there is so much to see & do! i'm so happy we went there for my 1st grade field trip, now i can't wait to see where i'll go for my 2nd grade field trip!!!

the three musketeers

when mommy picked me up from school today she had 3 special presents with her... one for me, one for jing & one for livi. jing's hair has been growing back & sometimes she doesn't wear a hat but clips won't stay in her hair just yet. so my mommy asked her friend to make something special for jing & instead she made the three of us the most beautiful matching headbands ever. we couldn't wait to put them on to see how pretty we looked. our headbands are amazing, i don't know how she made them but the three musketeers looooooove them!

livi's rodeo day

since tomorrow is "go texan day",  livi's school celebrated rodeo day today! all the kiddos go to dress in their western wear, there were cowgirls & cowboys everywhere... they were the cutest things you've ever seen. they had games set up everywhere like pin the tail on the pull, hula (lasso) a cow, how many clothespin can you toss in a boot & who could gallop on a stick horse the fastest races. they even got lunch around a "fake" campfire, their menu was hot dogs on buns, potato chips, brownies, juice & marshmallows for "fake" roasting. they even got to sit on a real saddle so they would know how it feels to ride a horse, that was livi's favorite thing she didn't want to get off. livi loved feeling like a real cowgirl today & can't wait for the day she can ride a real horse at the rodeo!

livi's new big girl bed

well we (livi) decided it was time for livi to get a big girl bed so we went & got her one! she's so excited to have a big girl bed just like me, but we still have to get her a headboard, nightstand & alarm clock... her requirements.  since livi can't decided on what colors she wants for her bedding i told her she could have my hello kitty set for now & she is loving it! it's still so weird seeing her in a big bed, i can't believe how fast she's growing up. she can't wait for it to get dark so she can go night night in her big girl bed tonight. isn't she cute...

a day

well today was supposed to be the day of the curesearch for children's cancer walk, but it was cancelled due to weather. this is the 1st time they've ever had to cancel a walk & what's really awful is this was the 1st time the walk has been in houston. i've been so excited & waiting for this for months so when i woke up & mommy told me the tears started flowing & i was heartbroken. i know it's not safe to be outside when it's thundering & lightening but i would have done it for the walk because i wanted to celebrate and honor the children that have endured much worse than bad weather!  after about an hour of crying & not wanting to be close to anyone, i finally let mommy pull me into her lap so we could talk about everything. i know that it would have been horrible for the children with cancer to have been out in that weather because they could have gotten a cold or the flu & that's the last thing they need. it's just that i was so excited to meet some new friends & give out as many hugs as i could because i want all the children to know how much love & support they have. also i think this is God's way of saying today is not the day & i'm giving you more time to get out there to raise more money for this cause... so go to it. by this thursday we should know more information on what we're going to do, i know we'll still have a gathering but i don't think it will be as fancy as what was planned. i'll let keep you posted on it.

also today was my 1st slumber party, mommy & daddy were so nervous... it's hard on them watching me get bigger. i don't even want to know how many drive byes they did checking on their "baby girl." at first i didn't want to go because i was so upset about the walk, but then mommy reminded me about how much fun i had at my own, so i decided she was right & i went. i'm so glad i went because we had tons of fun & it was the perfect thing i needed to help me find my smile.

livi's pj day

today is pajama day at livi's school so all the students get to wear their jammies and bring their favorite stuffed animal to school. livi was so excited, she went crazy when it came time to pick out which jammies she wanted to wear to school. there were jammies everywhere!!!

finally she decided she wanted to wear her dinosaur jammies, nothing girly about this one. they're about 10 yrs old & have been handed down & down & down, but they're super cozy & of course they have livi's favorite thing on them... dinosaurs. she also brought her favorite stuffed animal to love on all day, her polli. look how cute they are...

happy valentine's day

our valentines

livi & i are so super duper excited about our valentine's day parties at school tomorrow!!! in my class we're going to have ice cream with sprinkles, make friendship bracelets & exchange our valentines. livi is having a huge party also with all sorts foods & fun things.  we've made all of our friends & teachers special valentines & it took us a few weeks, but i think they will really feel our colorful love. we made these awesome crayon heart valentines to let everyone know "they color our world" & i think they're the coolest valentines we've made yet!

 i think livi & i did an excellent job on them. i don't think i'm going to sleep tonight because i just can't wait for tomorrow...i just love valentine's day so much, i hope all of our friends like their valentines!

caps off to school counselors

this week is school counseling week & it highlights the tremendous impact that counselors can have in helping students achieve school success. so all week we've been celebrating my school counselor, mrs. guffey because she helps promote a positive & safe school environment. today we're having a spirit day called "caps off to school counselors" so students & staff are welcome to wear a cap or hat to school. so hears to you mrs. guffey, you're the best school counselor i've ever had & thank you for all that you do.

curesearch bake sale

today at my church during mdo, we had a bake sale & all the proceeds went to curesearch for children's cancer! there were so many scrumptious sweet treats there, we had something for everyone. mommy, livi & i  baked for over 8 hours yesterday, we  made 4 different kinds of breads, muffins, cookies, strawberry oatmeal bars & chocolate dipped pretzels. our house was smelling wonderfully delish, that's for sure. then when daddy got home from work, he stayed up all night making homemade fudge. he made pecan fudge & bacon fudge, yes you heard right BACON fudge &  it was the biggest hit of the bake sale. everybody was talking about how amazing it was & how daddy was a genius for coming up with it & now we have people requesting it! a lot of our sweet friends made things for the bake sale also, they made cake balls, rice krispy treats, every kind of cookie you can imagine, donuts & the most beautiful cupcakes you've ever seen with our team logo on it! i'm so excited to say we had a great day & sold $204.00 in bakes goods, isn't that awesome?! so with all 3 fundraisers we had, we raised over $600.00 for curesearch... whoo hoo!!! thank you again so much to everyone for always supporting & loving me, it means the world to me!

today after school i went to the sweet boutique to pick up team everyday matters check for the curesearch walk, it was a whopping $312.50!!! i was so excited i was jumping up for joy over & over again!!! as soon as we went inside i got the biggest hug from ms. christine & she was so happy to hand me the check because she is so proud of what we're doing & all of our hard work! of course we couldn't walk out without buying anything so daddy went to town on getting us some special sweet treats for our super busy week. i just want to say thank you again to everyone who has supported us, we couldn't do any of this without you & we love you all so much.
