every year for livi's birthday we take her to her most favorite place...the beach. as soon as livi saw the water she took off running, she loves having the waves crash into her, i wish you could hear her laugh. we had tons of fun in the sun- we played in the ocean, made sand castles, collected pretty seashells, tried to fly our kite but there wasn't enough wind, dug a really deep hole looking for treasure & of course had a sandy picnic.
after the beach we decided to go to dinner at our favorite restaurant called fish tales. every time we go to galveston we have to eat there because the food is so mmm, mmm, good & they serve blue bell ice cream for desert.
this year we decided to do something extra special & spend the night to turn our trip into 2 celebratory days. we stayed in a fancy hotel called the tremont house & it was in old downtown galveston right in the middle of the strand. oh my goodness, it was the neatest hotel ever, we loved it! the elevators were made out of old birdcages, isn't that awesome! our room had the highest ceilings i've ever seen with wood floors & the coziest bed i've ever ever been in! i was so excited that the hotel had room service to make the beds the next day because we all could use a day off from making our bed.
as soon as we got in our jammies there was a knock on our door & a lady was asking for livi. the hotel had sent up 2 delicious chocolate chip chunk cookies for her birthday, isn't that supet sweeyt... don't worry she shared with all of us!
then since it was a special occasion & we never ever ever get to do this mommy & daddy let us... jump on the beds!!! whoo hoo!!! don't tell anyone, but they did it too!
after we got the jumping out of our system (which took a long time, we had to take advantage of this whole jumping on the bed thing) it was time to cuddle up on these super soft cozy beds & go to sleep.
the next morning we decided to go exploring in old galveston square. we loved seeing all the old buildings & all the fun things they had out everywhere. we even went to "la king's" which is a really famous old fashioned ice cream parlor & candy factory. talk about a dream come true walking through those doors, sweets as far as your eyes can see! of course we had to have some homemade ice cream & daddy had a rootbeer float. we even got to see a man make salt water taffy from scratch, that was really cool.

then it was time to head back to the hotel to check out & say goodbye to our lovely room. daddy brought up a luggage cart so it would be easy for us to carry everything down, but all livi & i saw was a really cool new hanging swing.
daddy couldn't resist & he had to do it too... he is sooooooo silly!
on the way out we decided to go back to the ocean & rent this really cool beach bicycle that we've all wanted to ride on for a real long time. talk about one wild, scary, crazy, silly, awesome, screaming look out, fun, hysterical, one of a kind ride.
the most important thing we did was watch livi have the best birthday so far & she had a blast... we all did as you can see!!!
