hope on the brazos

today was hope on the bravos & we were there supporting our amazing friend ms. stacy & her non-profit group sole loved! common threads, the texas children’s health plan and children’s dentistry of texas combined forces today to provide school supplies and clothing for the areas needy families. more than 2,000 students, from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, received assistance at the annual hope on the brazos event, held at lamar cisd’s common threads. in all, more than 3,500 attended the annual back-to-school event. that's a record breaking number of families receiving help, the line wrapped around almost 2 blocks! in addition to a backpack filled with school supplies, families had the opportunity to “shop” common threads to find the basics needed to begin school, including uniform and non-uniform clothing, socks, underwear, accessories & sole loved provided the shoes! more than 75 volunteers provided face-painting, snow cones and popcorn, as well as helping clients. more than 30 agencies provided health, safety, nutrition, dental and vaccination information to the many families at the event. common threads is the lamar kids assistance program, providing school clothing and supplies to those students who might otherwise go without & we're so happy that we're able to help serve them. it was so crazy there we weren't able to leave our "shoe station", but was it awesome seeing all these kids being so happy over a pair of cool shoes!  we're so excited seeing what jill is doing at common threads that kylie's prayer is going to try to partner with them & start serving these families as well!

talk about an one amazing team!

target practice

you think by now we'd know that it's never ever safe when nonie is watering the yard to go anywhere near her... else trust us you'll get soaked! honestly it's our favorite game & we've been playing it since we were in diapers. taunting nonie to spray us, having her trick us & then blasting us when we least expect it. of course it's always funner when we're in our clothes & not our swim suits!

the longest bike ride ever

today i wasn't feeling so great & while mommy stayed home taking care of me, daddy & livi went for a bike ride around our new neighborhood. livi wanted to ride up to the school that is a few blocks away & this was livi's longest bike ride to date. well they made it to the school in about 5 mins & livi was ready for some more action. so then they rode to back & went past our street to the bayou & walked around to check it out. they even went to the bridge behind our house to because... why not?!?! i can't wait to feel better so i can go too next time!
if you look closely, daddy is pointing to the back of our house

common threads uniform & sole loved shoe drive

today we helped our good friend ms. stacy with a uniform & shoe drive for a wonderful organization called common threads. common threads is part of lamar cisd's (our school district) clothing recycling program that serves students who might not otherwise have suitable clothing for school. they also provide school supplies. ms. stacy started "sole loved" which is a local shoe charity that we help with also.  ms. stacy's goal is to collect & distribute 500 pairs of new or gently used shoes to anyone in need, by december 2016. well on july 30th there is going to be an event called "hope on the brazos back to school fair" which is when families in need can come to common thread & "shop" for needed back to school items. we're so thankful to be part of this event & help in any way we can. so to get started, we helped with this uniform & shoe drive. we stood out in 103 degree temperature for 3 hours waving to all who drove by & anyone who donated was rewarded with freshly baked cookies & ice cold lemonade. we ended up filling one box full of shoes & one box full of uniforms... yay! honestly we were hoping for more, but we're so happy that we were able to collect what we did! if anyone has any gently used shoes or school uniforms we'll be more than happy to take them off your hands & make sure they'll go to a new home where they'll be worn with love! ms. stacy really needs about 800 pair of shoes for the event & so far she's collected almost 500! so again please let us know if you have anything to donate & thank you in advance!

my maddie

yay yay yay!!! for the past 3 years we haven't been able to have sleepovers at our house because we just didn't have the room at momo's. so i've always gone to my friends house for slumber parties. well now that we're in our new house i couldn't wait to invite my bestie (maddie) over for a sleepover. to make up for lost time & because we were having so much fun & because maddie is like family she spent 2 nights & 3 days with us... whoo hoo!!! we had the best time ever... we went to the pool twice, ran in the sprinklers with our clothes on, made muffins, went to wendy's so mommy could teach us to dip our french fries in our frosties, practiced new hairstyles, made musically videos, stayed up way way to late & laughed until we cried! it was the best time ever & we can't wait for more sleepovers to come!

last call at michaels

this is what happens when we got to michael's after our bedtime & we were hyped up on crafting adrenaline. we had a little to much fun & they were turning the lights off on us, but don't worry they found us very entertaining too! be warned though the next time you go shopping with us you may laugh more than you usually do & you'll be getting lots of weird looks, but that's just because they're jealous they're not part of our CrAzY crew.

children with hair loss take 2

before
a little over 3 years ago livi donated her hair to children with hair loss which is non-profit organization that lets children donate to children called "children with hair loss." their message is so wonderful, they ask us to "help cover young heads to heal young hearts!" they are an amazing organization, you should take some time to read all about them here! their mission is that "Children With Hair Loss was created as a resource for ALL CHILDREN who have medically-related hair loss. It is our mission to empower these children to become whole again by making hair replacement available to those who may be financially challenged and might otherwise not have a means of obtaining the hair they want and need. Our goal is to assist as many of these children as possible in changing their lives by improving their outlook and empowering them with a degree of self-confidence that will allow them to face the world with renewed self-esteem." mommy set up our summer hair cuts with our favorite ms. brenda & livi's been saying she was thinking of donating again, but not for a few more years. well as we were walking out the door to the salon livi decided that she was going to donate her hair again today because she knew she it was long enough to do now. she was so excited because she is so passionate about this & was so happy that her hair was already long enough to donate again. when we got there we went over all requirements for donating livi's hair, then ms. brenda feat ironed livi's hair & put it in a ponytail, measured it, then chopped it off (a lil over 8 inches) & the whole time livi was smiling ear to ear because she was so happy thinking about what a pretty wig it was going to make for someone. as soon as the scissors made the last snip we all screamed because a) we couldn't believe livi's hair was gone again & b) that it was possible for her to be even more adorable! she now has a graduated asymmetrical bob & she looks so chic, we just can't get over it!
livi is in LOOOOOOOOVE with her new hair cut & we going to have to start covering the mirrors soon & she's constantly asking mommy to take pictures of her... it's hilarious. i have to say her hair is even cuter when it's curly, she's got the best hair & now someone else will have it too! we're so proud of her helping make someone else's dream come true by giving this gift to help make them feel beautiful & like a normal everyday child.
after
so cute!
