today was hope on the bravos & we were there supporting our amazing friend ms. stacy & her non-profit group sole loved! common threads, the texas children’s health plan and children’s dentistry of texas combined forces today to provide school supplies and clothing for the areas needy families. more than 2,000 students, from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, received assistance at the annual hope on the brazos event, held at lamar cisd’s common threads. in all, more than 3,500 attended the annual back-to-school event. that's a record breaking number of families receiving help, the line wrapped around almost 2 blocks! in addition to a backpack filled with school supplies, families had the opportunity to “shop” common threads to find the basics needed to begin school, including uniform and non-uniform clothing, socks, underwear, accessories & sole loved provided the shoes! more than 75 volunteers provided face-painting, snow cones and popcorn, as well as helping clients. more than 30 agencies provided health, safety, nutrition, dental and vaccination information to the many families at the event. common threads is the lamar kids assistance program, providing school clothing and supplies to those students who might otherwise go without & we're so happy that we're able to help serve them. it was so crazy there we weren't able to leave our "shoe station", but was it awesome seeing all these kids being so happy over a pair of cool shoes! we're so excited seeing what jill is doing at common threads that kylie's prayer is going to try to partner with them & start serving these families as well!
talk about an one amazing team!
