my spa party & sleepover

ready for the party
well this past friday was my spa party & sleepover  it was a smashing success!!! we had sooooooo much fun, there was pizza, cupcakes, presents, nail & toe painting, dancing, decorating one of a kind flip flops, movies with lots of chex mix & very little sleep! all my friends arrived at 6:00  & the festivities began & this year my tia liz came over to help mommy out. this year instead of 10 girls it was just six of us & i liked it much better but it was still... pure girl madness! we had so much getting our nails done, mommy had over 30 shades of nail polish to choose from & we had crackle polish . we could as many colors as we wanted & one of my friends had 20 colors, her nails looked awesome! for a present i asked my friends to buy a yard of fabric so i can keep making scarves for the homeless & i got the coolest fabrics... my friends are the best! two of my friends couldn't spend the night so they left about 9:30, but my other two friends could spend the night... yay. we were having such a great time we didn't want the night to end, but we finally crashed around 11:00 & were up by 7:00 the next morning to keep the fun times rolling. i have to say making the party a lil smaller this yr was a great idea & we'll definitely do it again next year! thank you mommy & daddy for loving me so much that you threw me this awesome birthday party.

yay for my birthday

today was the most wonderful birthday, i loved every minute of it. before i went to be bed last night i made mommy promise that her & daddy would sing me "happy birthday" at midnight & they did! then livi woke me up singing at the top of her lungs "happy birthday", which was super cute because she was so excited to celebrate with me. then for my birthday breakfast i had my once a year special pink iced with sprinkles birthday donut with a candle in it. mommy got me the silliest birthday headband ever & i wore it to school for a lil bit, but then i decided it was a bit too much. then at school they said happy birthday to me on the morning announcements & all my friends signed a birthday card for me. for lunch daddy brought me chick-fil-a (my favorite) & we got to eat together, so awesome. after school i had some homework to do but then it was back to celebrating. when it was dinner time, it was off to momo's for my special "anything i want to eat, momo shall make for me dinner... she made her famous breakfast tacos!!! after dinner it was all about the presents & they were the best ones ever!!! i really am blessed to have such a loving family who knows me so well. i got my 1st "vera bradley" purse from my tia liz & I LOOOOVE IT!!! i got a new water proof watch that tells time in the dark & i really wanted one of those. i got a pair of super cool sunglasses that make me look like a famous person. i also got an elephant charm for my charm bracelet since this is the year i started fostering my lil kithaka. so all in all it was a spectacular birthday & i know i'll have extra sweet dreams tonight! them tomorrow the party continues with my sleepover... whoo hoo!

7 days

i'm so excited my birthday spa party & sleepover is in 7 days!!!

spelling test

all last week i was freaking out about my 1st spelling test of the year. i'm a really bad speller to begin with & i get that from my mommy who gets it from my pop, so i have to work really really hard. so a week ago i took my spelling test & i've been waiting for a whole week to see how i did & now finally today i got that spelling test back & i got an... A+!!! i was so happy when i saw that test, i can't even tell you. this week daddy came up with some awesome fun ideas to help me with my words like coming up with raps to put them in the right groups & we even made a spelling bee game show that was so helpful & i can't wait to play next week with my new words. so it looks like spelling won't be to bad after all.

livi's dino-rific day

today at livi's school was dinosaur day& she was sooooooooo
excited... she loves dinosaurs! she's been waiting for this day since school started, she was so excited she barely slept last night. she loves how they roar & the way they walk side to side. we decided she had to have a one of a kind homemade dinosaur shirt to celebrate that said "i love dinosaurs"! she also wore her dinosaur toms, dinosaur hoodie,  mommy made her a stegosaurus sandwich & packed her lunch in her dinosaur lunchbox, & livi also took her favorite stuffed dinosaurs for show & tell. when she got to school her teachers had decorated the whole class with dinoesaurs! in her music class they sang her favorite song "we are the dinosaurs" by laurie berkner, she was singing at the top of her lungs & stomping her feet all out! her class also made t-rex's out of paper plates, now that is what i call awesome. her class also became palaeontologist's & dug in the mulch outside to find dinosaurs... she loved that!!! livi's teachers even brought in special dinosaurs cookies for snack time & livi even got to bring some home to share. she also got a really cool dinosaur stamp on her arm so everyone would know she is onr dino loving girl!!!  livi made sure everyone knew she was a happy dinosaur & she didn't roar too mean so she didn't scary anyone.  she had such a great time today, she wants everyday to be dinosaur day.

national childhood cancer awareness month

september marks National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, drawing attention to the leading cause of death by disease in children throughout the united states.
please visit http://www.thenccs.org/home or http://www.curesearch.org/index.aspx to find out more about children with cancer & what you can do to make a difference!
my best friend at school is 7 yrs old & she is so sweet, pretty, kind, brave, happy & has the best hat collection i've ever seen. she loves to play princess, do goofy dances, play the guitar, sing, hang from the monkey bars & she also has leukemia.
for childhood cancer awareness month i'm helping raise awareness of children's cancer and raising funds for research by participating in the CureSearch Young Artists Program. i've sent in 5 pieces of works of art to CureSearch & i'm hoping one of them will be chosen to be printed on gift shop items or featured in public awareness materials... that would be the best thing ever!!!
here are some facts about childhood cancer:
~close to 75% of children diagnosed with cancer can ultimately be cured!
~childhood leukemia once was a most dreaded disease that meant almost certain death for a child diagnosed with it. today, thanks to advances in research and medical treatments, over 80% of childhood leukemia patients survive!
~the “rate of survival” for children with cancer has improved over the years more than for any other age group due to the successes in pediatric oncology research!
~even with the amazing progress in recent years, childhood cancer is responsible for killing more children and teenagers every year than any other disease!
~one person out of every 330 will develop cancer before age 20!
~each day, 46 children are diagnosed with cancer.
~although cure rates are steadily increasing, 35% of children cancer patients will die.
~cancer remains the number one disease killer of children; more than genetic anomalies, cystic fibrosis, and AIDS combined.
~ about 4,000 children die from cancer each year. that's 11 children every single day, every single year.
~childhood cancers are cancers that primarily affect children, teens, and young adults. when cancer strikes children and young adults it affects them differently than it would an adult.
~on the average, 12,500 children and adolescents in the U.S. are diagnosed with cancer each year.
~on the average, 1 in every 4 elementary school has a child with cancer. the average high school has two students who are a current or former cancer patient.
underneath all the sickness & being bald they're just like any other kid, they want to swing from the monkey bars, go to birthday parties & giggle over silly things. so please take the time & make a difference in a child with cancer's life, just a smile and a wave can mean a lot. :-)

livi's homework

well livi had 2 homework assignments due this week, one for mdo & the other for shady oak. for mdo she had a color bucket to fill with all red things from around the house. she found her "jessie" doll, a pot holder, a chips clip, her mickey hat, red chili, her play fruit, her polar bears panties & her paul frank watch. she had so much fun finding all sorts of red things, every time she would yell "look, it's red... yeah!"
then for shady oak she had  to make a photo collage of what's important to her & who she is. she spent 4 days picking out pictures that meant a lot to her because she took this very seriously. since she doesn't talk to her friends there yet she wanted to make sure they would really get an idea who she is with the pictures. you can see how much she loves her family,  the beach, being silly, cooking, dinosaurs & being a sister! i love her collage & am so proud of how hard she worked on it because it turned out grrreat.

respect

my virtue for this month is respect which is showing others they are important by what you say & do!!!

happy grandparent's day

GRANDPARENTS
Grandparents bestow upon their grandchildren
The strength and wisdom that time
And experience have given them.
Grandchildren bless their Grandparents
With a youthful vitaity and innocence
That help them stay young at heart forever.
Together they create a chain of love
Linking the past with the future.
The chain may lengthen,
But it will never part...

rawrrrr

RAWRRRRRR!
today we went to the houston museum of natural science to visit their new hall of paleontology! it was amazing 2012 is the year of the dinosaur at the houston museum of natural science. their world-class paleontology hall is the length of a football field & is one of the most dynamic paleo halls in the world. "the innovative hall is packed with prehistoric beasts, and will not have the same stagnant displays of ancient skeletons standing in a row that many visitors are accustomed to seeing. rather, the predators and prey in the new paleontology hall will be in action — chasing, eating and escaping as they struggle for life. embark on a "prehistoric safari" that also includes the grand saga of human evolution — from tree-climbing australopithecines to courageous mammoth-hunters."
there is a real bone t-rex featuring the best preserved and most complete hands and feet of any t-rex ever found, as well as patches of original skin & that never ever been seen before. speaking of skin they even had touchable specimens, including real, fossilized dinosaur skin, that allow you to pet a dinosaur. we even got to touch one of the finest collections of petrified dinosaur poop, now how many people can say they did that?!?! it was such an unforgettable visit, we had so much fun & loved every minute of it. we took tons & tons of pictures but here are just a few so you can feel like you were there too!

this is "stan"

this picture makes daddy laugh because it looks like we're about to be stan's snack
