finally it's out

oh my goodness i did it, i pulled out my own tooth, all by myself!!! this is the tooth that has been wriggly all school year long & the dentists didn't think it would come out by itself & it's one of the teeth that was having to come out surgically. mommy & i have been working on it really hard for months & it just wouldn't budge so we decided last week we'd just let the oral surgeon take it out. then for some reason i wiggled it today & i just knew it wanted to come out. so i got mommy had her feel it then i surprised her by telling her i wanted to do it & then with just one pull... it was out, we couldn't believe it!!! then after it was clean mommy accidentally knocked it into the sink & for a second we thought it went down the drain again (daddy's already tore apart the sink once for a tooth) but thank goodness it was on the side & now it's under my pillow!

today was my field day at school & my friends and i had sooooo much fun. we had all sorts  of games to play like tug of war (my favorite), duck duck goose, splash ball toss, 3-legged race, granite ball race, orange juice squeeze and all star pick-up. in the middle of the games we had a snack break & a snow cone break... so refreshing & delish!!! livi was so funny after the first game she just couldn't contain herself & she had to play along with us, i have the best friends because they didn't mind at all. by the end of it we were all a dirty, wet, stinky mess but we all had the best time ever!!!

tomorrow we have to take a sack lunch to school for our field day. when i found out that meant i had to take a brown lunch sack, i was super excited because to me that's a blank canvas. so i went to get my crayons & was ready to create. when i was done i showed it to mommy & she said no way could i use that as a lunch sack because it was so beautiful. i just rolled my eyes, told her to take pictures of it & i'd try to bring it home for her to save.

international parade

 this is international week at school & to celebrate we had an international parade & musical program yesterday. everyone was encouraged to wear cultural/traditional clothing of our ethnic heritage or dress patriotic in red, white and blue. daddy, mommy & livi joined me in dressing up, daddy &  i wore cool traditional mexican shirts, mommy wore a really sparkly indian shirt & livi wore a red, white & blue dress... we looked really worldly. it was so neat to see my friends at school dressed from all different parts of the world (my favorite was ms. nguyen from 1st grade), every one's clothing was so beautiful! each grade was given a country to study & kindergarten was mexico so my friend dhruv & i led the international parade with a big mexico sign that we all made... so exciting! the musical program was so pretty there was a gentleman playing the chinese violin also called an erhu with a woman playing the piano & they were playing taiwanese songs. at the end of the program they asked all the children who dressed up to come on stage for a group picture, we ended up having to go in two groups there was so many of us. i can't for next year's international parade to dress up again.

imperial sugar company

in case you don't know I live in sugar land, it's named that because this is where the imperial sugar company started. it was originally called oakland plantation because there was so many types of oak trees. but we had sooooo much sugar cane, they built a refinery to make sugar & our name changed to sugar land. you know the address to my blog is sugarbeane & it's because i live in sugar land & i thought it was a sweet name.  we thought yesterday would be a great day to visit the refinery to check it out because we always drive by it but I wanted to stop & really see it. they don't make sugar here anymore (it's done in georgia & louisana) but the headquarters is still here. last year they imploded 2 buildings that were part of the factory & there is only the main building & the silos left. one day it may not be here, but at least i'll have some fun pictures that will go down in history...

i'm so happy my bff is my lil livi, we always have to much fun together with tons of laughter no matter what we're doing! 



daddy's chicken enchiladas

 the other night daddy decided to try to make homemade chicken enchiladas & he did an awesome job!!! it was so super easy, all he did was boil some chicken, dip the the corn tortillas in oil to make them soft, roll the chicken in tortillas & place them in the glassware seam side down, pour green sauce over everything, sprinkle with your cheese of choice & bake them @ 350 for about 10 mins or until the cheese is melted. then on the side he made homemade spainsh rice (my favorite) & mommy made some beans charro style. it was soooooooooo delish, i can't wait to have this again... mmm, mmm, good!

 

the best art show ever

this past friday i got to go on a special date with my mommy & ms. marjon (my art teacher) to the museum of fine arts houston. we got to see 50 of the finest impressionist & post impressionist paintings from the national gallery of art in washington, dc. 
"The National Gallery´s Impressionist and Post-Impressionist collection ranks among the finest of any museum in the world and features some of the most famous artists active in France between the 1860s and the early 20th century. The MFAH presentation showcases masterpieces by Paul Cézanne, Edgar Degas, Vincent van Gogh, Édouard Manet, Claude Monet, Auguste Renoir, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and others. An unrivaled loan in the National Gallery's history, this exhibition offers a splendid overview of one of the greatest periods in European art and a survey of movements that changed the course of art history." here are some of my  favorite paintings we saw...

one of my all time favorite artists is vincent van gogh, so being able to see just one of his painting in real life i was so super excited... i got to see three of his paintings!!! i loved seeing all the art work in real life, i mean it was right there you could touch it... it was AMAZING!!! i wanted to get as close to the paintings as i could, but the paintings are so old they have a wire you can't cross to protect them. i loved everything about the exhibit & it was so inspiring, after i'm done with my sculpture session i know i'll be ready to paint again. i wish i lived in the museum, it would be awesome to wake up & see all that beauty every day. my favorite painting was van gogh's "self portrait with a paint palette", i loved all the techniques he used when painting himself. i'm glad in the "self portrait" he used the good side of his face, the one with the ear. i'm really happy i went with ms. marjon she taught be how to stand back from the painting, squint my eyes & the painting would look real. she also told me about the different painters & the different brush strokes they had used & seeing how smooth the paintings looked. i love my ms. marjon so much & now i'm even happier she's my art teacher because she knows everything about art! 
mommy wanted to take pictures of everything, but you're not allowed. you know mommy, did that stop her...no. she was only able to squeeze in a few before she got busted & in trouble... can you say, embarrassing. but i am glad she got a few, so i can look back at them later.

 when it was time to leave we had to get a few souvenirs... of course. i got daddy a magnet of van gogh's "self portrait", i got livi a book based on van gogh's paintings called "in the garden with van gogh" & ms. marjon got me this really cool coloring book on impressionism. i'm so glad i got to have the opportunity to see these astonishing painters & their incredible artwork, this was definitely a once in a lifetime experience!
