kylie's prayer

this evening we went to serve the homeless with kylie's prayer. kylie's prayer is a christian ministry dedicated to sharing the love of Jesus Christ with the homeless of downtown houston that was started with a 5 yr old's (kylie) prayer to help the homeless. now a few yrs later, the last saturday of the month a group of people meet together to help serve kylie's mission to spread the Word and Love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to the homeless, through distribution of supplies, food, love, and prayer. today a group of about 20 of us were able to provide tons of shoes, socks, clothes, fruit, snacks, ice cold bottles of water & colas. then we also had used backpacks, bags to pass out & toiletries. my best friend (ivoni) & her family even joined us, they've been hearing about us doing this for years & they wanted to help out too! ivoni was really nervous at first, but all the homeless people we met were so thankful & happy to see us, that soon she was like an old pro. i'm so glad i was able to be a part of this, hearing their stories & having them ask to pray for them really makes me want to do this as often as i can. these people really take care of each other & they know what each other needs. there was one gentleman that was so kind & told us all about his family & he was so appreciative for everything we do. we talked to him for a very long time & he had such a wonderful smile that he said was put on his face because of us. to see something that small make such a huge difference was so wonderful, it brought a smile to all of our faces too & warmed our hearts. my mission for the evening was to make sure that i smiled at each person so they know that someone cares for them & i loved all the smiles/thank yous/God bless yous i got back. the best part of the evening was sharing this with my best friend, who now wants to go out with us every time we go, isn't that awesome?! we're already planning a scarf making gathering so we can make as many scarves as possible to warm all the homeless this winter. we've already recruited over 10 people who want to do it with us... whoo hoo!  there are just so many ways to help & if you'd like to find out more about kylie's prayer or how you can serve please click here

spirit friday

today was my first spirit friday at school which means i got to wear blue jean shorts (yay, how i've missed them) & my school spirit shirt... whoo hoo! i also had my 1st spelling test of 3rd grade today. we don't get the results until tuesday, but i know i rocked it!!!

while i was learning away at school, mommy & livi were at the library where livi was putting on a puppet show for mommy. she loves perfecting all the voices the puppets speak in, every time she's ready for a new performance she always says the cutest phrase "let the show began!"

my first day of third grade

today was my 1st day of 3rd grade & daddy made my morning by writing a special message in chalk in the garage, so when it was time to leave for my new school i'd see "you are going to have a great year!" i loved it & it i felt so special when i saw, i have the best daddy in the world. i wore my red uniform shirt because that one is my favorite & my new awesome puma high tops so i'd have a great day. i was a lil nervous walking through the doors of my new school, but i remembered where the 3rd grade hallway was & made to my class with no problems.i was happy to see mrs. garcia's smile & know that i really did have a wonderful teacher. i even had a small little gift for her, i got her a small bottle of warm vanilla sugar (smells delish) lotion & mommy made a tag that said "hope you have a smooth year!" my day went by so fast it was over before i knew it. you know learning the class rules, what our outclass was for the day & things like that. i'm a lil sad because i didn't know anyone, but that just means i'll have to make some new friends & i made 3 today! i have lots of homework to start on, i wasn't expecting that but that's what being a big 3rd grader is all about! my favorite homework assignment is filling a bag with four things that tells our classmates about us. i brought a picture of me & my bff's, a picture of an elephant because i love them so much, a lego car i made because i love legos & creating things & the last thing is a magnet that has one of my art pieces on it to show my love for drawing!
 after school daddy, mommy, livi & i went to p.f. changs for our annual celebratory 1st day back at school dinner & then we had an ice cream dessert feast at maggie moo's. all in all it wasn't as scary as i thought it'd be & i can't wait for tomorrow. so it's official i like 3rd grade & can't wait to to learn all the things i'm going to learn.

shady oak

yesterday it was livi's turn to meet her new teacher for the school year! livi is going to be in a bridge program at shady oak, her school from last year, but in a new building! her teacher, mrs. hendrick is so super sweet & nice, livi really really likes her!

she's already told livi that livi will be in charge of the calendar the first week of school because livi can count so high & she knows so much about the months of the year... livi is super excited about that!

she loves being the primary building now because she can't wait to do art in the art/kitchen room. once a week her class will get to cook something that goes with what they learning about... how fun!

they also have a pretty fish tank, that livi is hoping everyone will get to take turns feeding. one thing everyone loved was the bathroom, it is the coolest bathroom EVER!!! they have a beautiful mural painted on the walls of the friends around the world during the day & night. we love the bathroom so much, we want our room to be decorated like it. it's done in in all the colors of the rainbow & it's fabulous!

we even made mrs. hendrick a special treat of chocolate chip oatmeal cookies letting her know that livi was going to be one smart cookie with her as livi's teacher, she couldn't wait to get home & share them with her husband. livi also wrote her a letter about herself just to introduce herself & it was so cute!

in livi's classroom, there is only 7 students & livi is the only girl!!! mrs. hendrick said livi will be the only princess & will rule the boys... we're still not sure if that's a good thing or not, ha ha ha!!! livi is so excited about starting school that she bought pencils for everyone in her class just in case they didn't have one or if they did have one & it broke. well livi's first of school is sept. 3rd & we'll keep you updated on how it goes!

dickinson dolphins

so i have HUGE news, since we've moved i'll no longer be able to go to colony bend elementary.  mommy fought all summer for me to stay, but it just didn't work out because everyone wants to go there since it's such a good school. it's taken me a few weeks to not be upset about it, but today i got to check out my new school & i'm totally excited now! my new school is so much nicer than cbe, i feel guilty saying that, but it's true. i'm super excited to be a dickinson dolphin now! the major difference at this school is now i'll wear uniforms & i'm still not to sure how i feel about that. i like to dress funky to stand out, so it's going to be weird with everyone looking the same. we have to wear collared shirts in red, navy blue, light blue or white. our bottoms have to be khaki, navy blue or black. the cool thing is i can wear any kind of shoe i want, so i'll keep fun with my feet! on fridays though we can wear jeans & our school spirit shirt, i'm really excited about that. when you walk into the school the first thing you see is this huge beautiful mural of the ocean with lots of dolphins... it's amazing!!!

the school is about the same size as cbe, but because of the way it's laid out it feels bigger. i'm really excited about my out classes this year because the art room is double the size of my old one with tons of more supplies. the music room is big too & has more type of drums in there that i knew existed. the library is HUGE & i can't wait to check out books... i'm so excited! our gym is inside now, air conditioned & has a rock climbing wall in it... whoo hoo!

i've been nervous about finding my way around the new school, but each grade has it's own hallway that's labeled & the cafeteria, gym, music class & library are all on the same hall... thank goodness.

then it was time to walk down that 3rd grade hallway to see my new classroom & meet my new teacher. my class is the very first one in the 3rd grade hallway & it's really nice. when i met my teacher (mrs. garcia) i let out a huge sigh because she was so pretty, nice, friendly & sweet.we even made mrs. garcia a special treat of chocolate chip oatmeal cookies letting her know i was going to be one smart cookie with her as my teacher, she couldn't wait to get home & share them with her husband. i also wrote her a letter about myself just to introduce myself so she'd know a lil bit more about me & how i was a new student & that i was really nervous about being in a new school. after meeting her & seeing my classroom, i'm feeling better about the school year already. we unpacked all my new school supplies in my new desk & got me all settled in.

my favorite part of the night was the "welcome" bag mrs. garcia had waiting for us on our desks. i've never gotten a present from my teacher before school even started, it really made me feel special. i really really like my new teacher & can tell how much she loves her job as a teacher!

monday can't come soon enough, i'm ready to be a big 3rd grader & meet the rest of my new friends & all the adventures that await us. i might get really nervous again, but i know it won't last long. my goal is to make two new friends on the first day of school & i know i can do it! i'm ready to be a dickinson dolphin!

super reader

this summer i did the "dig into reading" program again at the library. today I got my trophy for reading 20 books... whoo hoo! i even got a treasure chest shaped paper to write my name on & tape to the library wall so everyone knows i'm a super reader! i also got the coolest pencil ever, it changes color when it gets hot... awesome! it's going to be my lucky pencil at school! i can't wait to dig into reading again next summer!

bowling

talk about a family filled fun friday... we went bowling! there's a place by our house called main event & you can go bowling, play arcade games, laser tag or play pool. livi & daddy are definitely the bowlers of the family, mommy & i just like to throw the ball as hard as we can. we all had a good time & livi got the granny roll down to perfection. at some times she thought she was playing soccer & kick the ball down the lane... crazy girl. when she got tired they had a bowling ball rail helper that was livi's favorite thing. daddy's favorite part was when his favorite band game him & mommy both bowled strikes. mommy's favorite part was watching us have a great time & the all our balls stayed in our lane! we've decided that we're going to start doing this more often because it's a blast!

sadie... a special message just for you

 today is sadie's 1st birthday & as you can see she's one happy girl ready for her party!!!

 we bought a "happy birthday" cookie shaped as a bone from a puppy bakery & she loooooooooved it! i think her favorite part was the icing because she licked every last bit of it off before she started on the main part of the cookie & then she ate every last crumb. poor baby every time we came near her she would pick up her cookie & trot off, i think she thought we were going to take it away... she was not going to let that happen!

 after she devoured her cookie it was time to bring out the cake we made her out of water, chicken broth & toys all frozen together. let me tell you, we've never seen her tongue go so fast, she really enjoyed that frozen treat!

 then it was present time & we spoiled her rotten. she got a new collar, treats galore & some of them are shaped like dinosaurs, her favorite chewy bone & the a new tug rope that has skate board wheels to chew on also. she was one happy camper, she was dragging her gifts & gift bag all over the yard in excitement!

well there's just one thing left to do....
