trick or treat

this was the best halloween we've EVER had! on our cue-de-sac there's about 37 kids ranging from 4 months- 16 years old! we've never lived anywhere where there were so many kids & it's the coolest thing ever! this year a big group of us all went trick or treating together! it was a blast as we raced each other from house to house with excitement. at one house there's an elderly couple who dress up as pirates every year & have there parrot with them for us to pet. at one house instead of candy they were giving out lemons, which we all thought was so awesome! then when we were done trick or treating we all sat at the end of our driveway & helped pass out candy while trading candy with each other in between trick or treaters. then when we needed a break we'd go right next door to go through the haunted house. honestly i don't know how it could get ant better than this & we're so happy we live where we live! we love being the broken oak kids!!!

happy halloween

HAPPY HALLOWEEN FROM OUR CIRCUS TO YOURS!

happy national candy corn day

ok, so you all know that we loooove halloween & since today is national candy corn day we decided to make all of our teachers a lil sweet spooky treat to celebrate it with tomorrow! so of course we made our famous "candy corn cookie bark"!  it's so easy & mmm, mmm, good we wanted to share it in case you wanted to try it too!
14 whole oreos, broken up. we used the halloween ones with the orange filling.
1 C pretzels, broken into pieces. we used the small stick pretzels
1 lb. white chocolate or milk chocolate, almond bark or melts.
1 C candy corm.
1/2 C salted peanuts
halloween sprinkles or orange and black colored sprinkles.
cover a large cookie sheet with wax paper. spread broken cookies, pretzels and about 3/4 C of the candy corn onto the waxed paper.  place white/milk chocolate in a container and microwave for 1 1/2 minutes.  stir and then microwave for another 30 seconds until melted and smooth.  white chocolate melts faster and burns easier than chocolate.
drizzle the melted chocolate over the cookie mixture, spreading with spatula if needed to coat evenly.  sprinkle remaining candy corn and colored sprinkles over the chocolate while it is still wet.  do not let it harden.  place cookie tray into refrigerator until set and firm. remove and gently break bark into small pieces. store in air tight containers or bags.
and livi made all of her classmates a goody bag so they wouldn't feel left out filled with spooky pencils & stickers. she can't wait to pass those out tomorrow too.

broken oak annual halloween party

last night our cul-de-sac had their annual broken oak halloween party. we had a huge pot luck with every time of food you can imagine. we had so much fun just hanging out all together & spending the evening having the best time. after tons of playing & filling our bellies with deliciousness it was time to head to ms. cherie's house for her haunted house! she opened it up early this year just for us & we must have gone through it 10 times... it was so AWESOME!!! mommy barely made it through once she was so scared! ms. cherie had tons of plastic snakes hanging from the ceiling in one section & we had to force mommy through it! we live on the best street ever & we're so happy that we're surrounded my new friends that are just amazing!

livi's field day

today at livi's school was field day... whoo hoo!!! field day is the best day of school all year, they have more fun than should be allowed! livi couldn't believe but this year was even more awesome than last year! her coach got to the school at 3am to start setting everything up for the day... don't worry she had helpers. they had 3 different bouncy houses (one was a bouncy slip-n-slide... so cool), tug of war over huge blow up pools of water, any time of relay race you can imagine with pumpkins (because it took place the friday before halloween, parachute runs, pass the bloody eye, toss the beanbags, chalk drawing, monkey sling shots, football ring toss, ping pong, go cart cars that you peddled in a race (when it was livi's turn she passed up the boys team to the lead the girl's to victory), rock climbing, volleyball with the biggest ball you've ever seen, the list goes on & on, but the best was the obstacle course... they even had popsicles & popcorn. since everyone loves both the obstacle course & the tug-of-war, coach rice lets everyone do both. she just divided the classes in half & made them into 2 teams. they had so much fun & i'm so sad i missed it this year since i'm in middle school now. but livi can't WAIT until next year to do it again & she still has 3 more field days to participate in! we just want to say it again... livi has the best school ever!
here's some of livi's pictures through the day...
