writing... for the dinosaurs!?!?!

last week i didn't get to go to school at all because i had this stubborn fever that wouldn't go away. i had to go to the doctor twice & start 4 medications because i had a nasty sinus infection which really made my asthma mad & flare up. i missed all 5 days & i was not happy about it one bit, it was the worst week ever! i love school & i missed my friends & teachers so much! well on friday ms. chu emailed mommy with some good news that she knew would cheer me up & break my fever so i'd be back on monday! we are going to be learning & studying the dinosaurs that once roamed the great state of texas! so to get the students ready the school had a "dino-myte" writing contest & you either had to write a fiction, non-fiction or a poem about dinosaurs. the winner's pieces will be displayed in the school & they'll read their piece over the intercom to the whole school during morning announcements! so the week before, i had entered the contest with a poem called "dawn the dinosaur" &  mrs. taylor (our librarian) selected two winning pieces from each grade level. guess what... i was one of the winners! ms.chu said as soon as i came back to school i could get my prize, so i was bound & determined to get back to school today! so today i went to the library to pick my prize & i picked the coolest coloring book i've ever seen about butterflies. you can color it with crayons, felt-tipped pens, water paints, pencils & even pastels. you know i love to use all sorts of mediums so i was super excited about this & i can't wait to get started on it! i really need to say a big thank you to livi, because i wanted to write a great poem for her. she loves dinosaurs so much & i couldn't let her down.
