purple parade

today at livi's school (shady oak) they celebrated the "national week of the young child" by holding a purple parade, the color purple represents early childhood education.  "the week of the young child is an annual celebration sponsored by the national association for the education of young children (NAEYC). the purpose of the week of the young child is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs. " so everyone was asked to wear purple shirts in support for the parade, but you know livi she wore a purple shirt, purple shorts, purple socks, purple shoes, purple panties & of course her purple fedora. so when it was time for the parade to begin all the children were given purple streamers, a tambourine or bells to shake while saying "we love children" & some had even made signs. the parade went around the whole big block of the school & they passed an elementary school that had it's kindergarten class out cheering them on! mommy was so excited that she got to go to & be a part of it. plus with all those students i know the teachers were happy to have as many extra parents hands as they could get.
the parade was a little hard on livi & made her very nervous so by the time they got back to school she wanted mommy to take her home, but mommy said if livi would finish her school day she would stay & spend the day with her. livi loved that idea so she stayed & got to show mommy all the fun things she does that mommy never get to sees. to be honest i'm not sure who had a better time livi or mommy, they loved spending the school day together at school.
livi & her bff, Emily.

  1. I cannot believe how your school could be so smart. They picked the perfect color for Livi and her mother as well. Did your mom ever tell you about her bedroom in one of our homes in Austin. She picked the colors for her bedroom and bathroom and of course it was purple on purple. The “on purple” was trim and sponge imprints on the lighter shade of purple just like Ella did on her coral sea project poster board. You looked great and of course I love that purple fedora. Is that your teacher you are holding hands with? I think you have nice friends judging by the picture of you and your friend in the purple dress with the black dots on it. I do like the way that teacher is straining as she helps you on the parallel bars. You are getting bigger. It would be neat if you gained so much weight that next year that picture is of her splitting her pants in the back because you are so heavy. The rest of the day looks like it was full of interest things to do and learn. I think your example of “yarn” for “y” was perfect. You look so official as you show them the “scarf of many colors of many kinds of yarn”.
    Love you,
