at student council we agreed to help mcneil elementary school with their first community service project. the students at mcneil have organized a district-wide book drive. during the whole month of novemeber, they are asking us to donate new or gently used book in the designated box at our school. these book will be donated to other schools in the lcisd to encourage students to develop a love of reading with a feeling of ownership. those students will buy the books with "school" money that they earn for making good choices (completing homework, being on task, helping others, etc.) the goal is to collect 250 book per campus. we know that dickinson dolphins will do their part & to help them get started, livi & i donated 26 books together!
all the students that donate a book will get to put their name on a turkey feather to help us dress our dickinson turkey before thanksgiving!
Another great cause to get involved in and of course you guys did. I bet that turkey is going to end up with too many tail feathers to fly, he is grounded by love.
