yesterday was the big day at school where we were placed into our school houses. it's another way for the students to grow new relationships & build new friendships with our graduating class of 2023. we'll be competing in team builders on fridays & performing community service projects for "house points"! we'll have 6 week house parties for the winning houses. it's all about us working together & building relationships. there are 4 houses & they each represent different things...
reveur is the blue house & it means dreamer.
isibindi is the green house & it means courage.
altruismo is the gold house & it means giving.
amistad is the orange house & it means friendship.
mommy volunteered to help take photos & the 45 min she was assigned just happened to be the one i was in... talk about being so excited to see each other!
so today every 45 mins 2 classrooms came in to see what house each student was going into. we lined up & our assistant principal told us what we'd be doing. the first step was clicking the spinner to spin & where it landed was the house we were destined to be in. after that we got a high five, had our colored lanyard placed around our neck, climbed up the huge bouncy slide to celebrate sliding into our house & finished with a photo! i'm in house AMISTAD... whoo hoo!
it was so crazy in there with lots of screaming & yelling finding out what houses everyone was going into. there was music blaring & it was a wild party... talk about a way to celebrate getting through our 1st week of 6th grade.

after the 2 classes were done going into their houses, we had a pep talk from a teacher in that house & posed for photos. then it was time for the next 2 classes to come in to see what house laid in their future. i can't wait for next friday to see what we'll compete in! i also need to stock up on orange shirts because we wear our house color every friday so everyone knows what house we're in!
