our valentines

livi & i are so super duper excited about our valentine's day parties at school tomorrow!!! we're both having ice cream parties... whoo hoo!!!   we've made all of our friends & teachers special valentines & it took us a few weeks, but i think they will really feel our love. we can't wait to hand them out! this year livi made cookie cutter valentines & the poor thing had to make almost 50 for one school & 20 for her other... holy cow.
she started with sparkly paint then she dipped all the different types of heart cookie cutters we have (which is way more than you would think) into red paint & pressed them onto the sparkly paint, then  voila....
i made conversation heart valentines this year, like the candy.
i wrote special messages in white crayon onto hearts then i used water color paint to paint over them & the special message appeared, then voila...
then for a special added sweet treat mommy made valentine treats for all of our teachers too. she made our famous easy peasy cake mix cookie recipe with chocolate cake mix & also sugar cookies then we added cute valentine sprinkles on top.
then she also made the valentine version of brown sugar blondies... nummy!
here's the recipe for the blondies if you would like to make them too...
Brown Sugar Blondies
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1 cup to 1 1/3 cup M&M's
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C).
Mix together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt and set aside. Melt 1/3 cup butter. Add 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar and mix well. Cool slightly. Add egg (beaten) and vanilla and blend well. Add flour mixture, a little at a time, mixing well. Mix in 2/3 cup M&M's. Spread in 9 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Sprinkle 1/3 to 2/3 cup M&M's on top. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes. Store in airtight container at room temperature.

  1. It is so neat being able to see how my 2 most beautiful, most favorite valentine cards in the entire wide (24,901.55 miles in circumference) world (earth). What great ideas for ways to create them and what dedication in making them come to life! When I found out how each was made I had to go look at them again. I will always now think of Livi’s card as something tasty and Ella’s card as a Easter egg.
Oh yeah, keep those recipes coming, if for nothing else they are always very colorful.
    Love you guys,
