ok, when you live in texas starting in 3rd grade all the way to the 8th grade you have to take the STAAR (State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness) test towards the end of the year. the STAAR test measures your how well you're learning the essential knowledge & skills of the curriculum taught to you. in 3rd grade we're tested on reading & mathematics in all different categories. because i'm one of the top 5 math students in my class, i was put into special tutoring classes to help me score even higher... i know, no pressure or anything. the STAAR test is a HUGE deal, i've been terrified about having to take this test for the last 2 years. during STARR testing, we can't have any visitors at school, we have to eat lunch in our classroom, all the boards in the class are covered over in blank paper, instead of our desk being in groups they're put in rows, there can be no talking at all & the test's last for 4 hours!!! the good thing about STAAR week is our only homework is to get a goodnight's sleep. in 3rd & 4th grad the STAAR test just measures you academic performance, but in 5th grade if you don't pass the test you don't pass 5th grade! anyway, i know our scores don't count for a grade but i was still very very very nervous & freaked out! well we got our results back & i did GRRRREAT!!! out of all the questions in the reading & mathematics test i missed 6 in each subject. they really want all the students to at least be at satisfactory academic performance, but i flew over that line & i'm right below the line for advanced academic performance!!!
Self awareness of your abilities is a very good thing. The test scores very great! You did very well across the board and you left some areas for improvement so you will have something more to shoot for next year. Hopefully you will be less nervous and more eager to just test yourself knowing what is coming. You will be more focused on the test and not the changes around you because you expect them. It sounds like a serious setting for the first timer but next year you will be an old hand at it. You were right that your mom and dad were expecting no less as they can see your efforts at home and know your desire to do well. You have a very mature outlook on life (love the way you help Livi) but still have plenty of mischief, daring, joking, laughing, playing, painting, gymnastics, music, singing, for three girls your age. You are NOT a boring person, your are a person other people like to be around. Just do not change and you will do very well in life, in the mean time keep mom and pop guessing and on their toes, and continue to hassle Livi and Sadie.
