bayou wildlife park

yesterday at mdo, livi's class went on a field trip to the bayou wildlife park in alvin. they got to experience their very own african safari, how cool is that?! they rode on an adventure-filled tram ride with experienced wildlife guide that took them over 80 acres of natural habitat. they had alligator ponds and three monkey islands. while they were seeing all the animals, they got to feed some animals and birds that came up to the tram from africa, india, asia, australia, and north and south america. livi was a lil nervous at first but then she started throwing her food out for them to come closer. i mean these animals came right up to you, it's crazy. it was a little bit later in the day than they were wanting so a lot of the animal were already full, but it was still amazing getting to see all of them. the park had tons of endangered species there, check out the list: bantang cattle, white rhino, gaur cattle, barasinga deer, ring tail lemur (so cute), bactrian camel, pere david deer, addax, scimitar horned oryx, hog deer, nile lechwe.  there were over 50 species of animals and birds totaling 500 in number.  most animals and birds run free in the park & that made for a very interesting picnic! one of the deer was so aggressive about eating the kids lunch mommy had to step in front of them while a teacher went to get someone to help move the deer away from them. while mommy was protecting the kids the deer kicked mommy in the stomach & tore her favorite t-shirt, but thankfully all the kids were ok & the deer was moved to another location. then there was another super sweet deer who patiently waited to eat out of your hand when you were done with you're lunch. she loved mommy's chex mix so much that she ate all of it, but not the peanut butter & jelly sandwiches. there was a petting zoo there that had tons of goats everywhere! this is so funny, but the goats wouldn't stop nibbling on mommy & livi's clothes. everybody kept asking what kind of detergent do you use, but i think it was because they could smell sadie's sweetness on them. there poor shirts were sopping wet, one even got to livi's hair. can you imagine mommy & livi literally being eaten up by lil goats... hee hee hee, i can't stop laughing. i can't wait for all of us to go as a family & to experience our own african safari too.
