 there's been 3 very special woman in our family who have fought battles against breast cancer & livi has been hearing their stories in the past months. after learning some of the things woman go through,  livi has been wanting to cut her hair & donate it to women with breast cancer to give them something to make them feel pretty. we've been trying to get livi to grow out her hair a lil bit longer so if wouldn't be so short when she cut it, but she was having none of it & was ready to do it now! so mommy & livi looked into organizations to donate her hair to & found this amazing non-profit organization that lets children donate to children called "children with hair loss." their message is so wonderful, they ask us to "help cover young heads to heal young hearts" & as soon as livi heard about them, she HAD to donate to them! they are an amazing organization, you should take some time to read all about them here! their mission is that "Children With Hair Loss was created as a resource for ALL CHILDREN who have medically-related hair loss. It is our mission to empower these children to become whole again by making hair replacement available to those who may be financially challenged and might otherwise not have a means of obtaining the hair they want and need. Our goal is to assist as many of these children as possible in changing their lives by improving their outlook and empowering them with a degree of self-confidence that will allow them to face the world with renewed self-esteem." after reading more about them, livi made mommy call our hairdresser right then to schedule an appointment for her because she was ready to help these children! on the day of the big chop mommy flat ironed livi's hair to make it longer, got a measuring tape in blue (livi's favorite color) to make sure we cut the right amount off (8inches), picked me up from school (of course i had to be there) & off to see ms. brenda we went! when we got there we went over all requirements for donating livi's hair, then ms. brenda braided her hair, measured it, then chopped it off (8inches) & the whole time livi was smiling ear to ear because she was so happy thinking about what a pretty wig it was going to make for someone. as soon as the scissors made the last snip we all screamed because a) we couldn't believe livi's hair was gone & b) that it was possible for her to be even more adorable! she now has a graduated asymmetrical bob & she looks so chic, we just can't get over it. ms. brenda was so sweet because she didn't charge mommy for the haircut, she was donating it just like livi was donating her hair. ms. brenda was so inspired by livi that she's growing her hair out too so can donate it also... isn't that awesome?!

the day livi mailed her hair she was even happier i think, she just couldn't wait for some who didn't have any hair to soon be wearing her hair. she took the job of mailing it very seriously, we filled out all the forms correctly (twice, mommy made a boo boo the first time) & livi covered the outside envelope front & back with stickers so they would know how much love was inside the package. when you send in your hair, they also ask for a picture to publish so mommy made a picture collage of before, during & after livi's haircut to put in. there's also a box you can check to send in a $7 donation with your hair so a child will be sent a hat to wear while their wig is being made & of course livi had to do that to. after livi was done putting everything in her envelope & decorating she got in line like a big girl, waited her turn & then gave her special package to the mail lady all by herself! in 4-6 weeks, livi will be receiving a certificate of appreciation for her kindness in donating her hair... yay. we are all so proud of livi & love that she wants to help people in ways that she knows she can, we are firm believers that it doesn't matter how small or big you give, everything makes a difference!

livi is in LOOOOOOOOVE with her new hair cut & we going to have to start covering the mirrors soon & she's constantly asking mommy to take pictures of her... it's hilarious. i have to say her hair is even cuter when it's curly, she's got the best hair & now someone else will have it too! i'm growing my hair out so i can donate mine also, because what an awesome gift to give! for us it's just hair & it'll just grow back, but for someone else it's a dream come true to have this gift to help make them feel beautiful & like a normal everyday child.
