art lesson: sea turtles

i don't know if we've told you but we LOVE  our weekly art lessons soooooooo much. on friday when we got to ms. marine's house & she had homemade blueberry pancakes fresh off the stove for all of us to have breakfast together, it was the best way to start the morning ever... pancakes & art, how could it get better?!  then we got to spend 4 hours creating art with her, yes you heard us 4 hours! the past two weeks at art lessons we've been working on a sea turtle pieces, perfect inspiration for the summer. last week we started a painting that we finished this week that was inspired by the two photographs above that we each interpreted it in our own way. we worked really hard on them & love the way they turned out!

then when we finished them we got to go on a field trip with ms. marine to another artist's studio to start on some clay creations. this was the coolest & biggest art studio we've ever been to. we felt so special that we got to be traveling artist for the day. we both worked on molding sea turtles, then we got to each have a separate fun side piece. livi made a monkey & i made a heart plaque with a holding block. in a few week we'll go back to the studio to paint our pieces... we're so excited we can't wait! 

one of our favorite things about our field trip was meeting emmitt, he's the sweetest red healer ever & he loved us as much as we loved him! maybe he'll be our inspiration for our next art lesson?!
