lunches of love

yesterday we went to Lunches of Love & finally got to work on the assembly line shift. holy cow, that was some amazing & hard work! we started off counting & bagging 12 wheat thins for the lunches, we went through 7 jumbo boxes in about 30 mins. then we put juice boxes in paper sacks to start getting ready to for the assembly line. after that we were divided into groups of 10 or 12, put at  different tables & assigned our positions for the next hour. the first 2 people made sure there was a juice in the bag then the nest 2 people were in charge of putting the sandwiches in the bags, then the next 2 people put in the bags of wheat thins, then the next 2 people put in either frozen yogurt or frozen fruit, then the next 2 people doubled checked the bag to make there was 4 items in the bag & the last 2 people closed the bags & put them in their designated bins. i've never been on a real assembly line & wow those things really work! we were really moving & shaking packing all those lunches up. we packed over 3000 lunches in a little over an hour... WOW!!!
one of the funnest parts was stuffing bags we had decorated the last time we were there! each time we saw one we said a little prayer asking the food to please fill up the special belly is was going into.
then the best path of the day was after we were done with our work we got to give ms. adriane (she's the big boss at Lunches of Love) our money we earned from selling our homemade bird feeders. we also brought her 2 special bird feeders that we made just for her. ms. adriane was so proud of everything that we accomplished & she loved the bird feeders so much that she ordered 50 hearts to give to all of her shift leaders! so we need to get started on those & we're so happy that she likes them so much! when we were passing out all of our orders we placed them in brown bags that we decorated just like Lunches of Love does, so they'd see really understand the importance of what we were doing.
AND guess what... we raised enough money ($150) to sponsor 3 children during the 2014 summer session! thank you so much for supporting us & helping us be able to provide 165 nutritious lunches & 33 boxes of cereal to children in need!
