calling future longhorns

yesterday was dickinson elementary night at the george ranch high school football game. to celebrate it at school all the students were encouraged to wear maroon to show support for our future high school.  livi & i both really wanted to wear grhs shirts, but we couldn't find any kid sizes. so mommy bought adult ones, then her & daddy performed surgery on them to make them our size. they came out really cool!
we even had a pep rally where the george ranch cheerleaders, mascots & football players came to get us all pumped up. it was so awesome to see all the cheerleaders doing their cheers & flips!!! at the end of the pep rally they called all of the student council representatives up to the stage to say thank you for all their support in leading the school. livi almost started crying because she was proud of me being up on the stage. even some of my friends were yelling my name, it was really nice. but that's not all... you see all the student council representatives were invited to join the cheerleaders & football team on the field before the start of the game. we got to have the honor of holding of the banner that the football players run through as the team is introduced! when we first got there they had security come get all of us & our families to lead us through a chained locked gate to wait on the track. it was so awesome being down there watching the players warm up, the drill team line up, the mascots getting everyone pumped up for the game & the cheerleaders having a prayer circle! we all just stood there in awe taking it all in, then all of our parents went crazy taking photos of us because who knew when this would ever happen again.
then it was time to hit the field & get in position... ahhh! i have to say it was by far one of the coolest things i've ever done. i was so nervous waiting for the football team to run through, we were lined up on either side of the banner & there was a line that we couldn't cross. we had parents behind us ready to grab us if we went across the line because that was the football players runway & i knew we'd be turned into sawdust if we fell across the line because those players are BIG! when the band started playing, the crowd started screaming & that first football player tore through the banner... there are no words to prepare for how incredible it is. it was like INCREDIBLE tornado that you're being swept up in!
then when all the football players had run through it was our turn to run through the tunnel... so awesome!!!
then afterward we stayed & cheered the team on to victory as they won 42-22!!! talk about a night i'll never forget!!!

  1. What a special night, I never heard of anything quite so cool that got the elementary school so involved with the high school. What a special honor to be down on the field in the thick of the action. To have the team come running right by you as you held up the banner they were running through and to then get to run through the tunnel yourself. Your legs were flying in those pictures!! I bet Livi was proud of you but I will also bet your mom and dad did have tears of pride in their eyes watching you on stage and sharing your excitement at being such a big part of a great night. You are living proof that trying hard and getting involved with your school is very rewarding. These are your own memories you are building to look back on years later and to share them with the family you will build someday. You and Livi will be able to entertain your future children for hours on end with stories of what you did when you were young - both by yourself and as a family. Great work, have I told you lately how proud of you I am? By the way you and Livi with out a doubt had the coolest t-shirts. See how your mom and dad participate as well.
    Love You,
